Park Picks 2024: Discover a New Book!

in Spring 2024 by

If you’re an avid reader or simply looking for some captivating books to dive into, look no further than Park Picks: a resourceful initiative brought to you by Park Librarians! This collection is designed to inspire faculty, staff, and parents alike to explore many of the newest and most noteworthy books of the past year.

The mission of Park Picks originated from a similar project of the American Library Association (ALA), which has published a Notable Books list since 1944. Highlighting “very good, very readable, and at times very important fiction and nonfiction for the adult reader,” the library staff has thoughtfully curated a compilation of the year’s best books that represent a diversity of content and viewpoints.

This year, for the first time, the library has also produced a Park Picks podcast that dives deeper into many of the books on this year’s list. Highlighting a range of voices among Park’s well-read faculty and staff, the podcast episodes hope to inspire listeners to read a book from this year’s list or to reflect on a book that’s already been read. You can find the episodes on Spotify (search for “Park Picks”).

Park Picks is definitely more than just a compilation of books. Park Picks celebrates the sendoff to summer, encouraging everyone to embrace the joy of reading during the break. The dedicated efforts of the library staff ensure that Park’s faculty, staff, and parents have the opportunity to explore captivating stories, gain new perspectives, and embark on exciting literary adventures. So, dive into Park Picks and discover the wonders that await you between the pages of these carefully selected books. Happy reading!
