In recent months, Park leadership has worked to make the mission, vision, and values that guide everything we do transparent and visible. At Park, it all starts with our core values: Park supports its learners in developing the confidence to meet high expectations, knowing that success is achievable. Working independently and collaboratively, students seek challenge, explore solutions, learn from mistakes, and find joy in their intellectual accomplishments. Students are inspired to pursue academic excellence with curiosity and passion. Park is a diverse and compassionate community committed to belonging. Learners are supported in developing self-knowledge and awareness, considering differing viewpoints and experiences, and advocating for justice. Park pursues equity and inclusion through listening, learning, and creating shared practices and policies that honor and support the lived experiences of all. The Park program is grounded in community and connection. Educators design and facilitate social emotional learning opportunities that equip students with the skills to learn about themselves and others. Students learn to notice and manage their actions, behaviors, emotions, and thinking through ongoing reflection and collaboration. We act with empathy and care as we navigate an ever-evolving world. We call upon all members of the community to “Find joy in challenge, lead with compassion, achieve with integrity, and advocate for self and others.” And we guide our students to grow in all the qualities captured in The Park Portrait. Yet how do we see all these values and aspirations manifested in the Park program and across every grade level? How does this shape your child’s experience? Throughout the school year, under this “It All Starts With…” heading in Friday Notes, we will spotlight and explore curriculum, programs, projects, and accomplishments that show the vision and values at work. You will hear from School leadership, program leaders, teachers, and others, each of whom will share perspective on the important, values-driven work happening on campus, and its impact on our students. Be sure to watch for them! |
