You did it! As Scott Young shared with you on graduation day, you were the perfect Class to be Grade 8 leaders this year now that all Covid restrictions have been lifted. You built community across divisions and have a knack for leadership in all areas of school life. Secondary schools see these qualities in you, so you, as a class, were sought after students in the application process. Collectively, you will go to more than 20 different independent schools across the country from Connecticut to California and more than five different public schools. From Boston Arts Academy to Norfolk County Agricultural School, you will thrive in these various school options. You know yourselves as learners as well, and you picked schools that would be the right match for you. Your versatility and flexibility make you ready for any and all future endeavors. As always, there will be age-appropriate “bumps in the road” during your years of high school, and you have proven that you have the skills and resilience to navigate whatever comes your way. Please keep in touch with us and let us know about your experiences at this wide variety of next schools.
Our office also has some changes on the horizon. With Matt Kessler’s promotion and transition to become Park’s first Director of Enrollment Management, the office needed a new Secondary School Counselor. We are delighted that Elizabeth McColloch has accepted the position of Associate Director of Secondary School Counseling. Liz brings direct admissions experience from her time at St. Mark’s School as well as years of teaching and leadership experience as a French teacher and Modern Language Department Chair here at Park. Liz is widely known for her student-centered approach to working with middle schoolers as well as for her calm, upbeat demeanor with parents. Kind and knowledgeable, Liz has many gifts to share with our team, and we are delighted that she has accepted the role!
